How good is Cyprus High School?

Cyprus earns a 3 out of 10 GreatSchools rating, and like most schools on the west side of the valley it trails the state on standardized testing. Where it stands out is graduation: about 84 percent of the class of 2024 finished in four years, ahead of several neighboring Granite District high schools, though a little under the roughly 88 percent Utah average.

The bigger story is the building itself. In 2025 Cyprus moved into a new campus at 8575 W Cordero Drive, a roughly 505,000 square foot facility on a 57 acre site built to hold more than 3,000 students. It replaced a century old building, parts of which were damaged in the 2020 Magna earthquake, and it is now the largest comprehensive high school in Utah.

Athletics and activities

Cyprus is one of Utah’s oldest high schools, opened in 1918, and its teams compete as the Pirates in royal blue and gold. The move into the new campus brought modern athletic and performing arts facilities that the old building could not offer, from the gyms to the fields.

The Cyprus boundary and feeder schools

Cyprus is the comprehensive high school for Magna, so most of the community’s neighborhoods feed it. Boundary lines can shift over time, so confirm your exact boundary before you rely on a feeder. The Granite School District can check any specific address for you.

Homes in the Cyprus boundary

Magna is one of the more affordable places to buy near the Salt Lake Valley, and for many buyers that is the whole appeal. You get single family homes, yards, and quick access to I-80 and the west side, at prices that have been pushed out of reach in much of the rest of the county. As of July 2026, active listings in the Cyprus area generally run:

  • Entry level: around the high $300,000s
  • Typical: roughly the $400,000s into the low $500,000s
  • Upper end: up to the high $600,000s

Most homes cluster in the $400,000s and low $500,000s. Prices change over time, so treat these as a snapshot.

A local broker’s take

If schools are part of your Magna search, Cyprus is worth a fresh look. The new campus resets a lot of the old assumptions, and the school graduates a higher share of its students than several nearby Granite District high schools. Just as important for buyers, Magna is one of the last spots this close to the valley where an everyday budget still buys a real house with a yard. When you find a home you like, we will confirm its exact attendance area before you write an offer, since two neighboring homes can land in different attendance areas.
