How good is Wasatch High School?

Wasatch High earns a 7 out of 10 GreatSchools rating, the highest of the Wasatch Back and Summit County group, and ranks 30th of 163 ranked Utah high schools per US News. It has long been one of the larger comprehensive high schools in the region, with a broad slate of AP courses, career and technical programs, and athletics. Its historic enrollment topped 2,500 before the new Deer Creek High opened.

Its graduation rate of about 94 percent runs comfortably above the Utah average of roughly 88 percent.

The new Deer Creek High School

This is the biggest change to the Heber Valley school map in a century. Deer Creek High School opened in August 2026, Wasatch County’s first new high school in more than 100 years, on the west side of Heber City. The district approved new boundaries that split the valley’s students between Wasatch High and Deer Creek High, which cut Wasatch High’s enrollment roughly in half, to an estimated 1,350 students. If schools are steering your search, the single most important step in the Heber Valley right now is confirming which of the two high schools a specific address feeds, because the lines are new and still settling.

Athletics and activities

Wasatch competes as the Wasps in black and gold. As one of the larger schools in the region, it fields a deep, full-classification athletics program along with strong music, arts, and career and technical education offerings. The current campus, completed in 2009, was designed to honor elements of the original 1910 Wasatch high school. Mascot: the Wasps. Colors: black and gold.

Wasatch County School District covers Heber City, Midway, Charleston, Daniel, and the surrounding Heber Valley. At the middle-school level, Rocky Mountain Middle School and Timpanogos Middle School feed the high school level.
