Athletics and activities

The Thunder compete in the state’s largest 6A classification across the major sports. Westlake’s marching band is a standout program, with 4A state championships in 2012 and 2013, a 2018 Rose Parade appearance, and multiple trips to the Bands of America Grand Nationals. Two changes are worth watching. First, the Alpine School District split: beginning with the 2027 to 2028 school year, the far west side of the valley, including Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain, moves out of Alpine into a new west-side district. Second, the district has planned an additional Saratoga Springs high school, targeted to open around 2028 to 2029, which is expected to relieve Westlake’s enrollment and redraw parts of this boundary. Neither is final on any given address, so verify before you buy.
